Zone Level Science Fair

INTRODUCTION

In order to accommodate the increasing number of schools participating in the competition, another change was made to the Zone Level Science Fair in 2011. The number of teams from each school allowed to participate was changed. Previously before 2011, up to 2 teams from each school were allowed to take part in the competition. In 2011 only 1 team from a school was allowed to take part in the competition. This change, however, did not cause a drastic reduction in the number of teams participating because the number of schools that took part increased. In 2013 a total of 282 teams, and 261 teams in 2014 participated nationwide. In 2015, 221 schools participated in Zone Level Science Fair and in 2016 it increased to 258 schools. In 2017, a total of 326 schools took part in Zone Level Science Fair, a drastic increase in the number of schools.

In 2018, due to funding constraints we were unable to conduct Zone Level Science Fair. However, we managed to bring back Zone Level Science Fair in 2019 with the competition being held through students conducting hands-on experiment. In 2020, the method was changed to online video competition due to Covid-19 lockdown and we received 293 schools’ video and posters. In 2021, the online method was implemented. We received 312 videos and posters for this year’s competition.
